That kid just can’t stop scoring. Here’s the weekend round-up of England-related odds and sods.

Borussia Dortmund 5-1 Augsburg

The Bundesliga season has begun and England’s Jadon Sancho played 90 minutes and picked up where he left off, with a goal and an assist in the second half of a Borussia Dortmund rout.

The goal was classic Sancho: found at the far post on the right-hand side, buried the finish. But the assist, for Paco Alcacer, was out of this world.

Atletico Madrid 1-0 Getafe

Atletico Madrid’s on-loan striker Alvaro Morato missed the penalty that came from Joao Felix’s extraordinary solo run against Getafe. The Chelsea man did score the winner, though, heading in a cross from England right back Kieran Trippier.

Arsenal 2-1 Burnley

In the Premier League Burnley’s Nick Pope and James Tarkowski played 90 minutes each in a 2-1 loss at the Emirates. England prospect Reiss Nelson had a goal chalked off for Arsenal.

Aston Villa 1-2 AFC Bournemouth

Callum Wilson caught England team-mate Tom Heaton cold to win a penalty in the first minute, setting AFC Bournemouth on course for a win over Aston Villa.

Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 West Ham United

Central defender Lewis Dunk played 90 minutes as Brighton & Hove Albion drew 1-1 at home against West Ham United. Declan Rice did the same in the Hammers midfield, picking up a yellow card in stoppage time.

Everton 1-0 Watford

Everton scored early and held on to their lead to take all three points against Watford. That means a clean sheet for Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane, while other English contributors included Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Mason Holgate and Watford debutant Danny Welbeck.

Southampton 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool just about kept Southampton at arm’s length despite gifting them a goal and coming close to conceding an equaliser.

The Reds got 90 minutes out of Trent Alexander-Arnold and near enough the same from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was replaced late by Jordan Henderson. James Ward-Prowse played the full game for the Saints.

Manchester City 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Raheem Sterling absolutely definitely 100% completely undoubtedly meant his headed goal to kickstart a fine Premier League draw between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Sterling and Kyle Walker played the duration for City, as did Danny Rose and Harry Kane for Spurs. Harry Winks played just under an hour for the visitors.

Chelsea 1-1 Leicester City

James Maddison caught the eye and delivered the corner for the equaliser as Leicester City took a point from Frank Lampard’s first match in charge of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He should have scored the winner, too.

Mason Mount had scored Chelsea’s goal inside the first ten minutes and played the full 90 minutes for the Blues, as Maddison did for Leicester. Tammy Abraham got half an hour from the bench. Ross Barkley did not.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Manchester United

Marcus Rashford was in creative form for Manchester United and got his reward with a perfectly weighted pass to set up Anthony Martial’s opening goal. He might well have wished he’d taken United’s penalty too.

Rashford played almost the entire game along with Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard, his England team-mates past, present and future.
