Manchester City and England midfielder Fabian Delph has signed for Everton.
His three-year deal marks the end of four years at the Etihad, where he moved in 2015 after consistently impressing in an Aston Villa shirt.
He’s been trusted in various positions by Pep Guardiola but has been used in his natural midfield position in most of his 20 England caps. Everton would be best advised to follow suit.
Embed from Getty ImagesDelph’s opportunities at City have been understandably limited of late and his £8.5m+ transfer to Goodison Park represents a new challenge for the 29-year-old, who says he’s moving in search of regular playing time.
The knock-on effect could be England’s gain. The midfield options are there for Gareth Southgate, but arguably few of them are currently better than Delph at his best.
He leaves City with two consecutive Premier League titles and an FA Cup win to his name.
