The first England player round-up of the 2019/20 season begins not at Wembley, but in Germany.
Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Bayern Munich
A stellar performance from Jadon Sancho in the DFB-Supercup on Saturday was capped by a goal and an assist in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Bayern Munich. Sancho was substituted with nine minutes remaining.

Back on home soil there were starts in the Community Shield at Wembley for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson of Liverpool, against Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Kyle Walker of Manchester City.
Sterling squeezed the opening goal through Alisson in the 12th minute but fluffed his lines badly when played clean through on the hour mark.

City brought on Phil Foden for the last two minutes, just in time to have a fantastic view of Walker’s sensational stoppage time goal-line clearance to prevent a late winner from Mo Salah.
And so to penalties, which City won 5-4 with the following (consecutive) English contributions:
Lallana (Liverpool) - scored
Foden (City) - scored
Oxlade-Chamberlain (Liverpool) - scored
And fabulous penalties they were too.
