Another weekend goes by and VAR is once again the centre of attention in the Premier League, because of course it is.
It’s barely watchable. But watch we did.
AFC Bournemouth 1-0 Manchester United
Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford all started for Manchester United in their defeat by AFC Bournemouth. Wan-Bissaka went off with ten minutes to go, while Jesse Lingard came on after 68 minutes.
Callum Wilson played the whole match for the triumphant Cherries and was booked in stoppage time.
Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool
The league leaders were made to sweat at Villa Park, where Tom Heaton and Tyrone Mings played the full 90 for Aston Villa.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson did the same for Liverpool, the former providing the cross for the late winner. Adam Lallana got 84 minutes from the start. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain played the last quarter.
Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 Norwich City
There was a clean sheet for Lewis Dunk as Brighton & Hove Albion saw off Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester City 2-1 Southampton
Like Liverpool, Manchester City had to work for their points on Saturday. Kyle Walker was the Englishman of the moment, arguably slow off the mark for James Ward-Prowse‘s Southampton goal but more than making up for it with a fine goal and assist.

Sheffield United 3-0 Burnley
Two England goalkeepers met at Bramall Lane, where Sheffield United cruised to a 3-0 win over Burnley. Dean Henderson helped himself to a pretty routine clean sheet, while Nick Pope and defender James Tarkowski were beaten thrice.
West Ham United 2-3 Newcastle United
Declan Rice played the full game for West Ham United in a match that Newcastle United almost contrived not to win after being 3-0 up.
Watford 1-2 Chelsea
Saturday’s late kick-off saw Tammy Abraham lift the opener over the Watford goalkeeper to put Chelsea on course for three points. The England striker then teed up the crucial second goal before going off late on.
Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount played the full game, and Callum Hudson-Odoi was given a late cameo from the bench.
Crystal Palace 0-2 Leicester City
On Sunday Ben Chilwell played 90 minutes and claimed a clean sheet in Leicester’s win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. James Maddison was substituted in stoppage time.
Everton 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
Everton’s draw with Tottenham Hotspur was a deeply unpleasant affair that nearly finished Alan Green off on the radio on Sunday afternoon.
The highlight was a delightful Spurs goal for England’s Dele Alli, unusually their only English starter in the absence of Harry Kane through sickness.

Sevilla 1-1 Atletico Madrid
Kieran Trippier was substituted at half time in Atletico Madrid’s draw with Sevilla, their sixth from twelve league games so far this season.
Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Wolfsburg
It was a high-scoring weekend in Germany but England’s Jadon Sancho played no part off the Borussia Dortmund bench.
